I Just Don't Really Know What To Say

I know this may be odd and but in the end its just something I needed to write about. I just visited a family friend, just a 50 or so year old man who I often play violin with etc. He was diagnosed with cancer maybe a year ago bit less and is now simply the skeleton of the man he was now as he and his family struggle through the last days of his life... I suppose I just wanted to say how much I love my family and friends and that I am so grateful my parents are still alive, these children are loosing their father and perhaps even their mom. Although not literally, she will never be the same again and neither will the rest of them. I just want to say to all those who have lost anyone that I hope they are given the strength to keep living

This is a wonderful website which has helped me so much whenever I felt like I just needed a moment:

this website is brilliant and can help anyone have some space and time to think.

Perks Of Being A Wallflower Book

As you all know, the film 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' has just come out. Shallow as it sounds, I was particularly drawn to it because one of the main characters (Sam) is played by Emma Watson who I love being the Harry Potter geek I am.

Unfortunately, I have this weird thing where I have to read the book before I watch the film and work and other things got in the way so I only read the book a few weeks ago and now only a few cinemas are showing it, none of which are very close to where I live.

So this is only talking about the book, when I see the film I'll write about it comparing them.
The main character is like the contents of my draws, he's completely confusing but yet consistent. From what I can gather he has a mental problem which is connected to the loss of his Aunt. A side of his character is arguably childish, for example his relationship with Sam. He never tries to make any moves yet spends the entirety of the book talking about his love for her... As much as I want to love him, I do find him extremely frustrating at times.

As much as I liked the book, when I got to the end I was fairly disappointed as not much had happened at all. However, I would still recommend it if you liked the film or even just the trailer as it is a nice fairly quick read. Also apparently the film is quite different and some of the story is slightly changed & I defiantly look forward to watching it!

Hope you all had a lovely day:)

My Halloween Costume

So during the half term I almost started a blog because I really want to talk about my halloween costume. This year I was invited to a party and we all had to dress up, I couldn't for the life of me think of anything I really wanted to do which I could afford etc. I actually decided on my costume while getting my hair done two days before halloween, I decided I really wanted to be Black Swan.

For anyone who has never heard of Black Swan, it is a movie about a ballet dancer who must play both the black evil swan and the perfect white swan and she is defiantly more of the white swan so I suppose you could say the movie is her becoming more like the black swan... I'm really not sure how to describe it so here's the link for the trailer if you're at all curious

Anyway, the white swan has this amazing face make up

I got extremely excited and immediately started watch tutorials and such to try and get a general idea of how to achieve this. I'm not going to go through step by step how I did it but I'll talk to you about a few things which might help  any of you aspiring swans.

I planned to use gel eyeliner for the black and I as thought it would be easier to use to fill in such a large space. So I went out and bought a cheap one as although I have been told that Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Eyeliner is the best one I really didn't feel like spending £17 without being sure I liked gel eyeliner generally. So I bought 17 Smoulder Gel Eyeliner, I think I will do a full review of it soon as I didn't actually like it very much, however I want to try a different gel eyeliner before.
3.99)

For the glittery, metallic areas I used a light blue metallic-coloured cream eye shadow and lots of different gillter eyeliners in blue, green, silver, basically any ones I had lying around from my Shout Magazine buying faze when I was in year 7 and 8. However, I did use a eyeliner from Topshop which I absolutely love. It's called 'Infinite' and its a lovely silvery metallic colour.

For the lips any dark purple or red is lovely, I used a wine colour from Lancome's 'Coffret de Maquillage'
However, I think either 'Beguiled' or 'Hazard' from Topshop lipsticks would work perfectly.
(both £8)

Here are a few pictures of how mine turned out:

Thanks for reading, have a lovely day!

First Post

Hi I'm Lucie this is my first post so I thought I'd just explain what I'll be writing about. I created this blog just to give myself some space and discuss things I like which maybe others might too, or might not, to me it doesn't particularly matter. I plan to literally write about things that appeal to me as a teenager. That includes beauty, fashion, books, films, music, anything to be honest...

So hopefully I'll be blogging soon! :)
